Q. What happens
if our donor doesn’t pass her initial screening?
A. If the Egg Donor does not pass her initial screening, and the Intended
Parents choose to work with another Egg Donor represented by Egg Donation
and Surrogacy Center, Egg Donation and Surrogacy Center will provide the
Intended Parents with a another Egg Donor and apply any portion of the
agency fee already paid by the Intended Parents to the agency fee for
this new Egg Donor less any expenses already paid on behalf of the first
donor such as insurance, legal, etc.
Q.
I was hoping to find a donor with similar traits to myself, do you think
this is possible?
A. It is very hard for a woman to learn that they can not have a child
naturally on their own. Because of this, most of our parents want to find
a donor who closely resembles them physically, academically, religiously,
etc. Each parent has their own unique set of characteristics that they
are looking for. We have parents of different ethnic backgrounds, different
religious backgrounds, and with diverse personalities.
Q. How do you find your egg donors?
A. Donors come to us in a variety of different ways. The majority of our donors
come to us from referral from other Intended Parents and other egg donors as we
have an over 95% retention rate with donors. Also, we have some surrogacy agencies
that refer donors to us. Second, we have established relationships with several
modeling agencies that help us find girls interested in donation. We also place
several ads at colleges and in different unique places to find girls who may be
interested in donating. We also meet several donors at different special events.
Q. What clinics do you work with?
A. We are open to working with almost any infertility clinic as long as
they follow ASRM guidelines. We do have a list of recommended clinics
that we have established relationships with that we can provide to you.
Q. Can we use a surrogate with your agency?
A. Yes, we are happy to coordinate cycles involving a surrogate. We work
with several different surrogacy agencies and clinics with regards to
this. For more information, click on the link that says Surrogacy Information.
Q. What insurance coverage is offered?
A. Your donor will be covered by Lloyds of London accident insurance that
will cover your donor in the event of a problem as a result of the egg donation.
Detailed insurance details are available on their website at www.newlifeagency.com.
You can receive a detailed explanation of this insurance if you request it.
Q. Will I meet the donor?
A. This depends on your personal preference. Most Intended Parents prefer
an anonymous donation where their identity is kept anonymous and they
have no contact with the donor, however this is your choice. You are asked
if you would prefer an open or anonymous donation. You can choose to meet
the donor, have a phone conversation, have an email relationship, or have
no relationship at all. You can also choose to have future contact with
the donor or you can choose to be completely anonymous. This is up to
you. Of course, the donor you are matched with must agree to your request.
If you are open to either option, you can let us know this as well. The
egg donation arrangement is an extremely confidential arrangement. All
information regarding all parties is kept confidential.
Q. How does the donors compensation work?
A. We allow donors to set their own compensation request however we encourage
donors to set reasonable requests and do our best to try and keep them
within industry standards. Prior to the donor beginning medication, you
will send the entire compensation amount to the agency. This money will
be held on behalf of the donor. When she begins her injectible medication,
she will be given an initial payment of $1000. After the donor successfully
completes the egg donation retrieval, she will be given her remaining
compensation.
